1. Using your informational research, write a persuasive paragraph about your topic following the guidelines shown in the picture below.

2. If you have not typed your paragraph, do so now.

3. Using THIS DOCUMENT, format your paragraph with the proper heading, title, font, and spacing.

4. Check your paragraph for DEAD WORDS.

5. At the bottom of the document, list the TRANSITIONS you used and identify what type they are.

6. Change your claim to ALL CAPS.

7. Put your appeal or appeals in bold.

8. Underline your counter-claim.

9. Put [brackets] around your concluding sentence.

10. Format your WORKS CITED page properly.

11. Revise your paragraph to take out comma splices and fragments.


12. Submit paragraph on TurnItIn.com for the assignment "Persuasive Paragraph."

In order to present an effective argument, you must use credible, well-researched information.

ASSIGNMENT: Using databases, find at least one article with at least 5 pieces of specific information about your debate topic of choice.  Put your information into a Google doc.
  • You must paraphrase the information.
  • You must have the MLA citation for your source.

GRADING: During your warm-up on Monday, I will come around and check each person's Chromebook for completion and accuracy.
