Today you'll practice sequencing and creating flow maps.
First-
We started these stories earlier in the quarter. For each of these stories, sequence the events and then make sure to show me your scores so that I can record them!
  1. Sedna the Sea Goddess
  2. Nasreddin Goes Shopping
  3. Nasreddin and the Smell of Soup
  4. The Magic Paintbrush
  5. The Tongue-Cut Sparrow
Second-
After you finish the stories above, choose one of the stories below to read, then create a Flow Map with the three most important events (just like we did for the movies "Meet the Robinsons" and "Labyrinth.") Make sure you understand what you are reading!
  • "The Upside-Down Mice" by Roald Dahl
  • "Stray" by Cynthia Rylant
  • "Mericans" by Sandra Cisneros
  • "The Jacket" by Gary Soto
You'll have to use your own paper. Remember, your flow map will look something like this, except it will only have THREE main boxes:

Hello, Academic English B-Day students! While I do miss you all after having been gone over Spring Break and then for Outdoor Ed, I am sadly fighting bronchitis and need another day at home on antibiotics. Please be awesome for Mr. Cohen, the sub.
                                                   See you soon!
                                                   Best, Mrs. Bender-Stone
