Alliteration - repetition of initial consonant sounds
Assonance - repetition of vowel sounds in stressed syllables that end with different consonant sounds
Consonance - a kind of slant rhyme in which the ending consonant sounds match, but the preceding vowel sound does not
Repetition - using the same words or phrases more than one time to make an idea clearer.
Rhyme - repetition of sounds at the ends of words. End rhyme is a rhyme that occurs at the ends of lines. Internal rhyme occurs within lines. Sight rhyme occurs when two words are spelled similarly but pronounced differently (“gave” and “have”)
Rhyme Scheme - the pattern of end rhymes
Rhythm - Pattern of beats or stresses in a line
Sound - sound devices are resources used by poets to convey and reinforce the meaning or experience of poetry through the skillful use of sound.
